As 2012 closes, the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program is preparing for the 2013 grant cycle for County Courthouse Grants and Historic Preservation Restoration Grants (HPRG).

Please note the following deadlines and the attached program descriptions:

 1. First time HPRG and County Courthouse grant applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent by January 2, 2013.  Each historic property has a unique set of preservation concerns and it is beneficial to allow time for AHPP staff to work with each applicant to prioritize specific issues and assist with project development.

  1. A grant-writing workshop will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. 9th St. in Little Rock.   Admission is free, but reservations must be made by Friday, December 28, 2012.  It will focus on grant eligibility, the grant selection criteria, and an explanation of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.  We will also explain conservation easements and review grant writing basics specific to these projects. First time applicants are strongly encouraged to attend.
  1. The AHPP will accept grant applications for both grant programs from Wednesday, January 2, through Friday, March 8, 2013.   Completed applications must be delivered to the AHPP offices by 4:30 p.m, March 8, 2013 to be considered for funding.  Regardless of a postmark date on or before the deadline date, applications that are not received in our office by the deadline will not be accepted for review.

To receive a copy of the grant guidelines and/or Letter of Intent form, please call Joia Burton at (501) 324-9883 [TDD 501-324-9811], send an e-mail to joia@arkansasheritage.org, or download a packet from the AHPP website at www.arkansaspreservation.com/preservation-services/grant-programs/.  You may complete the electronic Letter of Intent form for online submission.  Please note the submission of the Letter of Intent is not an application for grant funding.

We look forward to working with you during the upcoming application period.  Please feel free to contact me at (501) 324-9783 or AHPP Grants Administrator Joia Burton with any questions.
